Lost/Found: Rediscovered music for keyboard and choir, with virtuoso flair
With special guests David Korevaar, piano and Brian du Fresne, organ
A lost masterpiece newly found: Spanish composer Enrique Granados’ Cant de les estrelles (Song of the Stars) received its world premiere in 1911, then disappeared for almost a century. The score languished in a forgotten archive, where it was damaged by fire, water, and mold. Revived in a new edition by Douglas Riva at a 2007 New York performance, this piece is now regarded as one of the composer’s finest works. It is, in essence, a piano concerto with choir and organ in place of the orchestra. Ars Nova Singers is proud to present Lost/Found, featuring the Colorado premiere of this work, along with sumptuous works by Dominick Argento and Lili Boulanger. Join us for an evening of rediscovered treasures and timeless beauty!
